Shari Barrett and her husband, Steve, began home schooling their oldest son in 1986. Together, they instructed both of their children through high school. When their sons reached secondary level, Shari began teaching other children along with her own. Her goal has been to prepare young people for college and future careers. Wishing for a more user-friendly composition curriculum, she began transcribing her lectures. After much labor, these lectures became the composition text, Put That In Writing, which is gaining popularity. Using this tool, Shari currently offers classes to home school students in the Portland area and continues to develop her writing curriculum.
